Training Programs

The Clean Tech Institute is offering advanced certificate training programs for careers in Clean Tech and Renewable Energy.

The Institute has developed advanced workforce training curricula and provides technical training programs to equip business executives, professional managers and dislocated workers to enter into emerging clean tech industries.

The Clean Tech Workforce Training Program has been developed to assist:

  • Business executives and professionals: to re-engineer their company’s product development, manufacturing process and expand market share.
  • Scientists or engineers: to become an expert and a trainer in advanced solar thin film, nanotech batteries.
  • Apprentices: qualified candidates are encouraged to apply for the Apprentice Program with paid on-the-job training.
  • Displaced workers with a background in technology: to get new skills for a career in a high growth industry.

These high tech professional development training workshops are taught by a world-class faculty consisting of professors from Stanford University, NASA, UC Berkeley, California Institute of Nanotechnology, Clean Tech Institute and senior executives of our industry partners.

Professional Short Courses

slidesThe CleanTech Institute offers professional development short courses and workshops focusing on the latest developments in technology that are important to scientists, engineers, business development managers and senior executives of clean tech organizations.

Our faculty is comprised of professors from UC Berkeley, Stanford, and senior executives. Each course is normally offered over a 3-day weekend from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the Fremont office.

Certified Electric Vehicles Technician (CEVT)

EVThe Certified Electric Vehicles Technician (CEVT) is a 16 week course designed to train a new generation of electric vehicle specialists to work in the research & development, manufacturing as well as in the repair and maintenance of electric vehicles. The course will include the development of electric vehicles, hybrid engines, power inverter systems, electric propulsion systems, electric car and hybrid climate control systems, belted alternator starter systems, batteries and energy management systems, nickel metal hydride, lithium ion and latest development in nanomaterials batteries technology. Hands-on workshop will include the high voltage vehicle safety, basic repairs and maintenance of a hybrid and electric car.

Certified Clean Tech Technician (CCTT)

toolboxThe Certified Clean Tech Technician (CCTT)  is an intensive 16 week certificate program, designed to train a new generation of technicians for the entry level of technical work in the process engineering and manufacturing of photovoltaic, nanotech batteries used in electric vehicles and energy efficiency systems. 

Prerequisite: High school diploma or GED with 7 years of work experience or an AA degree with 5 years of work experience.

Certified Photovoltaic Systems Specialist (CPVS)

t-squareThe Certified Photovoltaic Systems Engineer  (CPVS) is an intensive 16 week certificate program, designed to train a new generation of photovoltaic specialists focusing on the product development, design and manufacturing and applications of photovoltaic systems in the industry. 

Prerequisite: High school diploma or GED with 7 years of work experience or an AA degree with 5 years of working experience.

Certified Clean Tech Engineer (CCTE)

gearsThe Certified Clean Tech Technician (CCTE) is an intensive 13 week certificate program is designed to train a new generation of engineers highly skilled in the design and applications of renewable energy, process engineering and manufacturing of state of the art clean tech processes including: thin film photovoltaics, wind turbines, and nanomaterial batteries used in electric vehicles. The program includes a hands-on lab component covering the practice and design of silicon based photovoltaic systems. Students are expected to participate in field trips visiting solar manufacturing companies.

Prerequisite: a 4 year degree (Bachelor of Art, Sciences or Engineering) or equivalent with at least 5 years of working experience.

   Program Schedule: 13 weeks

Certified Clean Tech Project Manager (CCPM)

Project ManagerThe Certified Clean Tech Project Manager program is a 13 week course designed to train Project Managers in the clean tech industry. The course includes lectures, group discussions and case studies in solar energy, wind, energy efficiency, nanomaterial batteries, electric vehicles, laws & regulations related to the emerging clean tech industry.

Prerequisite: a 4 year degree (Bachelor of Art, Sciences or Engineering) or equivalent with at least 5 years of working experience.

Certified Clean Tech Professional (CCTP)

BriefcaseAn intensive 8-week certificate program is designed to train technical and business professionals for managerial jobs in renewable energy industry: solar, wind energy, energy efficiency, nanotech batteries, thin film and electric car industry.

Students will be expected to demonstrate their acquired knowledge through problem solving, group discussions, and project development and presentations. In addition to classroom learning and group project research assignment, students are expected to participate in industry seminars and field trips visiting industry partners and solar farms.
